64 Schubfächer - Saiten - Handyvibrationsmotoren - Mikrocontroller
UA - Schloss Moyland 2007
Kurator: Stafan Froleyks
64 drawers - strings - mobile phone vibration motors - microcontrollers
Curator: Stafan Froleyks
Pictures have been hung on many of the walls of the museum at Moyland Castle hung so closely together and in such large numbers that, viewed from a distance, one could see a new large picture that contained all the pictures as details. I wanted to find a sonic counterpoint to this special hanging.
64 drawers from old chests of drawers and cupboards are arranged rectangularly on the floor. Each box is strung with a guitar string, which is struck by a mobile phone vibration motor. Depending on the composition, 64 different tones and rhythms can be heard on the floor. The acoustic images move from side to side or continue in blocks and lines. Diverse tone repetitions are created by the random movements of the mobile phone vibration motors. Hearing, like seeing, can happen in detail or at a distance. The wandering of the eyes from picture to picture is realized here with sounds.
In addition to the many electronic components, the motor that makes the cell phone vibrate is a rather antiquated electro-dynamic object. A weight sitting on an axle generates buzzing sounds and vibrates the mobile phone. It's a creative and fun way to draw attention to yourself.
